Apple has added 5 new applications to the iPod touch software that can be activated through purchasing the January Software Upgrade from iTunes. The upgrade is $20. It adds the Mail, Google Maps, Weather, Stocks and Notes applications to your iPod touch just like the iPhone. Another feature that they have added is the ability to customize the home screen. You can rearrange the icons on the home screen and dock, create new home pages and also add icons with links to applications/ videos or other media.

I love my iPod touch but I definitely have a problem with buying frequent updates for my iPod touch after paying a premium in the first place. A benefit of software updates is on the original iPods, if they had a major software/hardware update, you couldn’t update the software but would have to buy the next generation. However this would allow Apple to release software updates just like a Mac’s operating system without the need of buying new hardware. I’ll have to admit, even though I was reluctant, I did purchase the update. Its nice to have mail, and especially Google Maps just in case. The only negative aspect is that you have to be connected to your router or another unsecured router in your area.

Today I went to see the World Vision Experience at Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA. It was such a profound experience and brought back many of the memories and experiences that I had in Africa. The exhibit displays the heartbreaking reality through the stories of 4 African children who have gone through the journey of having AIDs or knowing someone who has had AIDS. I would definately suggest taking a look at it. The Exhibit will be at Crystal Cathedral till Jan 20th and is open til 6 each day.

I’m excited to announce that I have integrated both MySpace and Facebook with my WordPress blog. This means that everyone will get to see my new posts as I publish them.

For Facebook I added the application Wordbookand then installed the plugin Wordbook

For MySpace I installed the MySpace Crossposter.

.:: EDIT ::. Jan 31, 2008

Unfortunately I have had to disable this plugin because it was not successfully adding bulletins for MySpace. With a site like MySpace they are continuously doing modifications to their url and such to prevent APIs and programs like this. I didn’t want to take the chance of getting my profile deleted or it messing up my profile.

Tonight my sister and I went ahead and made a batch of cookies since I promised… well my mom promised her that I would help her make some cookies this week. We first went online and googled some cookie recpies and found what looked sorta good. We ended up picking the “Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies” on AllRecipies.com. We then left to go get some shortening from Albertsons. Everything was going good until I noticed that I used up all the brown sugar the last time I was making cookies. So my mom was like just use regular sugar. Mistake! haha they tasted like sugar cookies with chocolate chips in them haha. Definitely not the best batch. :). It turned out making 2 sheets of 12 each and I put the rest of the batter in a brownie pan. Well the second sheet of cookies I left in the oven longer because they were on the top and therefore further away from the element. Well I definitely left them in way too long and they were nice and dark brown haha. Hard but not necessarily burnt.

Chipotle Mexican Grill No Longer Serving Student Drinks

In just the past couple of weeks there has been a very troubling event in my life and that is that Chipotle Mexican Grill is no longer serving student drinks. It used to be that if you slid right up to the cash register while paying for your food you could flash your student identification card and they would hand you a free regular drink. That was a nice break considering that a chicken burrito with guacamole was about $8 a trip. now, with a drink its over $9.

Now I first discovered this when I visited the Chipotle in Cerritos, CA when I requested a student drink while showing proper identification and the cashier declined. Now I immediately became suspicious because there was an event month earlier in which I visited the Chipotle in Orange, CA and the cashier told me they didn’t give free drinks. I told him I went to Chipotle all the time and they gave out student drinks so after giving me a hard time he simply laughed it off and said “Just kidding”. It was frustrating then and even more frustrating now as I was severely caught off guard. She notified me that they no longer gave out student drinks. I asked her if it was just at the one location but she said that it was company policy and was fact at all of their locations.

I am severely battered by this latest news as Chipotle is definitely up there on my top 5 favorite restaurants of all time. I do plan on still indulging in the great Mexican food there but I think I will have to cut back on my ordering because unlike their shirts say they’re meat isn’t free.
